about
An energetic museum professional dedicated to rethinking traditional museum practice

Freya has established and led The Highlanders’ Museum’s decolonialisation programme. She has instilled confidence in the team to tackle the challenging aspects of the history we care for, she has supported members of the team on their individual journeys to a more inclusive view of history and has led by example as we have made the conscious choice to include more diverse stories within the museum. Freya’s Community Curators programme has become a flagship part of the museum’s offer which intersects collections, learning, access. Its success has grown with each cohort and along with the decolonisation actions has now been embedded in our core activities at both a strategic and practical level.
Eilidh Young, Director, The Highlanders’ Museum
Working with Freya over the last couple of years has been a rewarding experience. She brings energy, creativity, dedication and adaptability to every role. I have been particularly impressed with her commitment to elevating silenced voices in our museum collections and to her understanding of digital tools that help us to bring those and other stories to audiences around the world. Freya is a great asset to the Highland heritage sector and I hope to work with her again in the future.
